About me

Emily Jeeone Han is an artist and painter born in Seoul, Korea. She immigrated to the US, where she grew up in Deerfield, IL. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a certificate in Studio Art.

My work explores intricate realms around me. Through my imagery, I capture the complexities embedded in these surroundings. Immigrating and navigating a new life with my family, my upbringing inspires representations of systems, culture, class, and history.

I am fascinated by the allure of objects and belongings. Objects have the ability to evoke mystery and ambiguity, while still being distinct enough to resonate with specific memories. Color, composition, and symbolism excite me to explore the boundaries of object purpose. This exploration of what lies beyond the obvious continues to surprise me, revealing unexpected connections within my work.

As I create, my personal iconography builds and guides me through a world of limitless avenues. With this process, my paintings become an intuitive story map experience, embracing a journey through layers of curiosity and tension.

Through this nuanced narrative, I invite you to see the world where every object becomes a vessel of memory, encouraging reflection on our own connections to the tangible world around us.
